To determine the division for a team with only two members, double the age of the member doing 2 heats of the race and add to the age of the other member. Example; if member #1 is 30 and is doing 2 heats of the race and member #2 is 40, their combined age would be 100. 30 +30 +40 = 100, this would put them in the Open team division

Triathlon Tips

Important Information for Triathlon Participants

The following list is filled with information that will help you relax and be prepared for the Triathlon/Duathlon on Sunday June 21, 2009.

• The race routes are listed in detail on the summit website.
• The race begins at 9:30 am sharp on June 21, 2009. There will be two heats. First one being Males and second being Females. Everyone will start waist deep in the water and when the gun goes off you will begin.
• The water temperature will be between 60 and 64 most likely. (unless it begins to warm up in a hurry) That is a bit chilly and I highly recommend wearing a wetsuit. It is doable (but not recommended) without one, but you would be more comfortable with one. We will have EMT and lifeguards watching over you and also boats and kayaks out along the course if you would need assistance.
• The pre-race meeting is promptly at 9:00 am at the boat landing. If you miss the meeting you are going to be responsible for getting the information that was shared from someone.
• You will be given a cap to wear and wearing that cap is required. It will have your number on it and will be either bright green (male) or bright pink (female). Again it is REQUIRED that you wear it. I recommend wearing another cap underneath of it for warmth.
• Booties are optional and are not supplied.
• The transition area will have carpet leading from the lake to the grass area, so you will not need to worry about rocks and such when running out of the water, besides what is in the water before you exit.
• All the bikes and any other transition materials you will have need to be set up and ready to go before the swim line up.
• The swim lineup will begin directly following the pre-race meeting.
• There will be orange buoys in the lake locating the turn points for the swim.
• Directions to both the lake and summit are on the Website as well.
• Packet Pick-up is taking place the day before the race. Packet Pick-up will be at the Summit Medical Fitness Center from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm on June 20, 2009. If you are unable to get to the Summit during those hours you will be able to pick up your packet the day of the race at the lake.
• Helmets are required. You will not be allowed to participate if you are not wearing a helmet.
• Be sure to label all of your belongings. Know that you are responsible for any last or stolen items.
• Body marking will begin at 8:30 am near the boat landing. Remember to not put on sunscreen prior to marking.
• Don't forget to wear sunscreen.
• Be sure your number is visible at all times when on the bike and the run.
• Remember that where we are running and biking is a residential area. Please respect their property.
• Please do not begin to remove your wetsuit until you are off the path. There will be people exiting right before and after you and you do not want to slow them down.
• Please respect other participants!
• Drafting on the bike is illegal.
• Mountain bikes or road bikes are acceptable
• All bikes must be in working order and there will be a mechanic there prior to the race to help with any minor problems you may have with your bike.
• There will be a water stop at the turnaround for the run.

I hope these tips will help answer any questions and help you be better prepared for race day!

If you have any further questions please feel free to call me (406) 751-4133 or e-mail
